We invite teachers to come meet our director, Summyr, with the other faculty as we talk about the dance industry and any other questions you may have about your dancers future.
Teacher’s classes begin on Saturday at 10:30am and run all day.

Please note: Add $10 to each dancer/teacher/observer rate if registering less than 30 days before date of workshop.

At the Door Registration: Since our workshop is so popular it is suggested that dancers and teachers register 30 days prior to the event as space fills up very quickly. We have a wait list for “day of registration dancers and teachers” please call ahead to make sure your name is on that list.

-Teachers and Assistant Teachers, wearing a teal band, are permitted access to ALL dance classes and seminars held at the workshop.

-Teachers and Assistant Teachers, wearing a teal band, may videotape the last 30 minutes of the student’s classes. Please do not use cameras at any other times during class. You may take pictures with no flash at the faculty show-off but no video cameras will be allowed during this time.

-We encourage observers to watch student classes.  No teachers, dancers, studio directors, or drill/dance team directors may purchase an observer band. Observers do not have entry into seminars or teacher classes. The observer rate is $15.00.  This is for the safety of the dancers and 8&a1 staff. It also keeps rooms from becoming over crowded and allows for the most space to dance.

**Internship candidates must attend audition to be selected as an intern and be 17 years or older by date of workshop. Interns attend workshop FREE!

8&a1 Workshop Scholarships for Dancers

We also offer class scholarships for dancers: They are awarded to a dancer who excel in a dance class. Students can receive a scholarship in any class: jazz, hip hop, contemporary, precision, etc. Each scholarship is picked by the teacher and announced at the faculty show-off.

Class scholarship dancers receive: a scholarship good for one year to a future 8&a1 Dance Workshop event.
Please remember: this scholarship is not awarded as an internship. However, a scholarship dancer may audition to be an intern as long as they are 17 years or older by the date of the workshop.

Faculty Show-off

Faculty Show-off: There will be a faculty performance at the end of the workshop where they will perform with a LIVE DJ along with the interns! We will also announce our class scholarship winners at this time. Plus, something else will be given but its so top secret we can’t tell you until the show-off!

Parents are encouraged to come to the workshop as an observer and watch the faculty show-off, it’s a dance event not to be missed! Please bring your cameras to take non-flash photography during the last 30 minutes of dance classes and at the faculty show-off. Video cameras are not allowed at the faculty show-off performance.

Workshop classes, levels, and seminars

Workshop dance classes: We have many amazing classes in ALL styles and levels: Jazz, hip hop, contemporary, tap, pilates, precision class and many more!

Workshop dance levels: We have an intermediate division and an advanced division. As long as the dancer is 14 years or older and has read the class description they may take in whatever divisions they prefer. It is advised that you read the division syllabus so that the dancer is put in the appropriate class. It has been said that our classes are more challenging than most since our teachers work with professional dancers. We want all dancers to get the best information possible during the workshop that benefits their skill level!

Teacher classes: We will start at 10:30am and run all-day! We have done this so our teachers can watch their dancers first class. Teachers will take dance class in jazz, hip hop, pilates, seminar classes, and much more! We want all of our teachers to get the best knowledge of the dance world that they can pass to their dancers!

Seminar Classes: We will also be discussing how to make it in the dance industry with a Q&A from our faculty. We will discuss resume building, headshots, etiquette for auditions, how to find out about auditions, and much much more!
