8&a1 Dance Workshop Internships

8&a1 is offering a dance internship at the workshop. Dancers 17 years or older must attend an audition to be selected as an intern.

Teacher Assistants: Each intern will work with one teacher the day before the workshop to learn the choreography so that the intern can demonstrate the warm-up and combination during both of the teacher’s classes.
Performance Opportunity: 8&a1 interns will work a professional choreographer/performer the day before the workshop to learn a piece that they will perform with the LIVE DJ at the faculty show-off!
Performance Reel: The show-off will be video taped and footage will be used for a personal reel that each intern will receive to use at future auditions in their dance career!

Dancers wanting to pursue dance as a career are highly encouraged to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity!

  • Seeking interns for the 2009 8&a1 Dance Workshop season.
  • Interns must be available the day before each Workshop date. No exceptions.
  • Must be 17 years of age by the date of workshop.
  • Must call audition hotline to attend. Hotline number (917) 375-9956.
  • Please bring a headshot* or 8x10 photo* of yourself to the audition.
    *Photos will not be returned.
  • Please be warmed up and ready to dance when the call begins in body conscious dance attire. Please bring jazz, tap, ballet, and character heels if you have them. Be prepared to learn a ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, and lyrical combination. If you are not proficient in all subjects please specify and we will put you in appropriate groups.
